Acoustic guitarist Richard Gilewitz will perform at West Mobile Music, 865 Hillcrest Road in Mobile, Sept 8, from 2-4 p.m.

There will be a bonus “Q & A Meet the Artist Session” following the concert offering interactive group instruction. Topics will include fingerstyle guitar, picking patterns, inspiration for increasing playing skills, slide, composition, open tuning, dynamics, right-hand position and more. It is designed for all ages and levels.

Named as one of the “Men of Steel” by Fingerstyle Guitar magazine, Gilewitz fascinates his audiences with fingerstyle gymnastics while spinning yarns too unbelievable not to be true.

Spanning across the musical genre of blues, folk, classical, traditional, and rock, Gilewitz’s ability to make one guitar sound like an entire orchestra stems from 33 years of well-honed technique and 25 years of on the road worldwide touring.

Playing solo, conducting guitar seminars and school programs, or years of sharing the stage with folks such as John McCutcheon, Mose Allison, Leo Kottke, Indigo Girls, John Hammond, Rory Block or Jane Siberry, Gilewitz always creates a sparkle of mood mastery and wonderment.

Whether a hobbyist, weekend warrior or full time professional, you’ll be entertained and inspired.
