BAY MINETTE —Led by Denosha Maye's game high 22 point effort, the Baldwin County High Lady Tigers defeated visiting Daphne 43-33 Tuesday night before a big crowd in Bay Minette. Maye got help from teammate Delicia Adams, who ended up with 14 for the home team.

The victory upped Baldwin County to a perfect 5-0 in the area standings while improving to 11-8 overall. Coach Adam Wallace's squad are home again on Friday as they entertain Gulf Shores in another 6A Area contest.

Daphne fell to 1-12 on the season and 0-4 in area play. They also meet Gulf Shores in their next game, a home affair on Tuesday January 20 in Daphne. Daphne was led by Cardazja Harthorne's eight points while Erin Windham and Alexis Jones had five each. Victoria Mason scored four as

did Jennifer Darby and Morgan Stopa. Krysta Wright had two and Brook Battiste had one for Coach Tereance Pinkney's Lady Trojans.

Besides the 36 points that Maye and Adams delivered for the Tigers, Ja'Kera Williams had three, Olivia Trawick two, and Jo'Nasha Jordan two for Bay Minette.

BCHS jumped out to a 10-4 lead after one period of play as Adams had two baskets inside, Maye scored on a driving layup, Williams scored inside, and Jordan hit a layup. Jones had a three pointer for Daphne and Battiste sank a free throw. The Lady Trojans cut the lead to 13-12 on baskets by Harthorne and Mason and then took the look on a pair of Harhorne charity tosses and one more from Stopa.

Maye then took over in the third quarter as the junior had eight points in a four minute stretch and when Adams put in a missed shot, it was 23-18 BCHS. Trawick then added two from the foul line and Maye converted a three point play to make it 28-21 after three quarters. Free throws from Hawthorn and Stopa along with a basket from Wright trimmed the Tiger advantage to just three at 30-27 but another three point play from Maye inside and one free throw each from Maye and

Williams pushed the lead back to 35-29. Adams then put the finishing touches on the win with four straight inside buckets, three of them on assists from a driving Maye.
