Glanding attends Leadership Conference

GULF SHORES, Ala. — Christine Glanding, daughter of Charlie and Janet Glanding, attended the Alabama Youth Leadership Programs 2009 Student Leadership Conference.

Glanding joined more than 100 other young leaders representing as many high schools from throughout Alabama.

The Conference was held at May 29-31 on the campus of Jacksonville State University.

Glanding, representing Gulf Shores High School, was chosen to participate in the Conference based on leadership potential.

AYLP Leadership Conference brings together a select group of high school sophomores to interact with groups of distinguished leaders in business, government, education and the professions to discuss present and future issues.

The conference goal is to provide the youths a stimulating forum for learning about the American system and democratic process while broadening their understanding of their leadership potential and quest for self-development.

“The conference challenged me to think about the world around me, and what we, as the future leaders, have to do to positively influence business, government, and society,” Glanding said. “I also better understand that my goals and dreams are important and that leaders have extreme responsibilities in whatever walk of life they pursue.”
