Florence Porter Mills Gosnell died Saturday, April 3, 2010.
She was born Jan. 3, 1921 to Julian and Florence Mills in Peoria, Ill. She married Homer Gosnell, also of Peoria, Nov. 14, 1942. They relocated to Silverhill in 1970.
She was a long-time member of the Christian Science Church in Foley; was an accomplished musician and a member of several musical groups throughout the years. Through her love of literature and reading, she became a dedicated volunteer at Oscar Johnson Memorial Library in Silverhill.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Survivors include three children, Julie McGee, Jon Gosnell and Georgia Church, all of Silverhill; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 18 at Silverhill Cemetery. Following the service, a celebration of her life will be held at the Church residence at 21803 Broad St. in Silverhill.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Oscar Johnson Memorial Library in Silverhill, or to Ala Care Hospice.
