DAPHNE, Ala. — The Bayside Admirals defeated the Clarke County Bulldogs Friday night in a 48 minute slugfest that displayed two very tough Region 3A teams.

The No. 8-ranked Admirals sealed their 22-20 win with a last-minute interception by sophomore Jacob Graddick, improving their record to 4-0 for only the second time in their program’s history, and 3-0 in Region 3-A.

Bayside would get on the board first with a Ryan "Taz" Owens touchdown after a 3-yard run, picking up 135 yards on 14 carries and giving the Admirals a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

With 1:38 remaining in the first quarter, the Bulldog defense got a paw on an Admiral pass setting up a Deandra Love interception and 65 yard return for a score as Clarke County reduced the lead to one point.

Before the half, Scooter Blake scored on a 1-yard run, and Jonathan Walton gave the Admirals a little breathing room after scoring a 2 point conversion. Bayside went to the locker room leading 15-6.

With 4:49 left in the game, Thomas "Buck" Buchanon would put the game-winning touchdown on the board, along with Geoffrey Steinbaugh’s second extra point of the evening.

Clarke County did an admirable job in an attempted rally, with a pair of Cordero Hasewood 1-yard touchdown runs, the last coming with 1:55 left in the game, bringing the score to 22-20.

The Bulldog’s defense squelched Bayside’s last drive resulting in a punt with 46 seconds left to play, and took possession of the ball at their own 32-yard line. As the clock wound down, Clarke County would make one completion, with the last play of the game being read by Graddick, who would intercept.

The Admirals will host Mobile Christian, who should be motivated coming off a big 21-20 upset win over Flomaton, for Homecoming at 7 p.m. Clarke County (1-3 overall, 1-2 region) will be on the road at Marengo.
