BAY MINETTE, Alabama — A single-vehicle crash in the early-morning hours Sunday on Interstate 65 just south of the Bay Minette exit claimed the life of a Grand Bay woman.

Velma B. Hudson, 51, was killed when the 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche she was driving left the road and overturned at the 31-mile marker, five miles southwest of Bay Minette, according to a release issued Sunday by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Public Information/Education unit.

According to the release, Hudson, along with two passengers were ejected, none of whom were wearing seatbelts. Hudson was pronounced dead on the scene, and the two passengers were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the incident.
