Grandfathered manufactured-home park developers near approval

SPANISH FORT, Ala. —The Planning Commission postponed consideration at the developer’s request for site plan approval of a five-lot manufactured home park until July to address deficiencies in the submitted drawings.

At issue is Mike Dasinger’s request for the Spanish Brook Manufactured Home Park via Sinking Ship LLC.

“We’re here in good faith trying to work with y’all to get it done,” said Russ Copeland, also with Sinking Ship during Monday’s regular meeting.

“These don’t sound like unreasonable requests,” said Copeland of the 10 items outlined by the commission for clarification, noting the firm is “trying to do everything the right way.”

Chairman Carl Nelson said it is not unusual for the commission to grant request approval contingent on one or two conditions being met in a timely fashion, but the presence of 10 uncertainties on the submitted drawings made him “uncomfortable.”

Sinking Ship has until the July 12 meeting to resubmit drawings that clearly:

No other business was discussed during the meeting.
