SPANISH FORT, Ala— Spanish Fort Education Enrichment Foundation began the third annual Teacher/Student Grant program on Oct. 15. Applications will be available for teachers of all grade levels of the Spanish Fort Elementary, Rockwell Elementary, Spanish Fort Middle School and the Spanish Fort High School.
“This program is extremely important to the Foundation to provide for enrichment of our children’s education,” Sandra Bostrom, of SFEEF, said.
Teachers and their students will work together on the grant applications, which can be for a special clasasroom project, program, educational materials or supplies that will help the teachers enhance the students learning ability.
“Parents are urged to encourage their students and teachers to participate in this grant program as it will be a great learning experience as well as very rewarding,” Bostrom said.
Jan. 9, 2009 will be the submission deadline. Judges will be chosen from outside the area and the grants will be awarded in February, 2009. A total of 15 grants were awarded last year.
The SFEEF board has approved a total of $30,000.00 for the 2008/2009 grants for the 2,846 students that attend the four Spanish Fort schools to make a total of $95,000 for the three years. Funds for these grants were provided from the proceeds of the annual fundraisers 6th Fiesta at the Five (Rivers Delta Center) and the Haulin’ Hooves Bull Run on Nov. 15 at the Eastern Shore Centre
