Gray Comly Crawford born in Savannah, Ga., and a resident of Mobile and Fairhope died on Feb. 4, 2013 at the age of 81.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, a talented artist, a humanitarian, a true lady and a beautiful person on the outside as well as within. Everyone loved Gray. She was easy to talk with on any subject from birds, dogs (particularly boxers), to football. A familiar figure at Blakeley State Park, Gray thought of the Park Rangers as her extended family. She loved them as well as the surrounding nature of the Park. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1949 and attended Auburn University. Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by her parents, Captain Sam Comly, USN and Dorothye Grayson Comly. She is survived by her son, John Crawford of Atlanta; and her brother, Sam Comly (Kanetta) of Fairhope. A memorial service was held on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home with Father Thack Dyson officiating.
