Lawrence Richard Green, born Nov. 9, 1931 in Wilkes Barre, Pa., a resident of Westminster Village, Spanish Fort, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2007 in Fairhope, where he and his wife lived from 1991 to 2004.
His family moved to Philadelphia when he was a child. He served in the Air Force. In 1965 he moved his family to the Chicago area. He was a retired Sears Roebuck & Co. executive, former chair of the Fairhope Planning and Zoning Board, a former volunteer at Thomas Hospital, Rotarian, former member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, and a member of Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church.
He enjoyed clocks, wrist and pocket watches, scrimshaw and nautical artifacts. He also had an interest in woodworking and model steam engines.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Green Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Nancy Elder Duffy Green; four children, Diane (David) Cadermartori, Janet (Stephen) Pleiming, Lisa Green and David Green; eight grandchildren, Alison, Andrea, Carol, Joanne, Erich, Andrew, Phoebe, and Deirdre; three great-grandchildren, Eva, Aidan and Lily; sister, Doris Fetterman of Houston; 18 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church, 6620 Spanish Fort Blvd., Spanish Fort.
