James Eron Green, born April 19, 1927, a native of Soso, Miss., former resident of Mobile and Daphne, and a resident of Gulf Shores, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007 at his residence.
He was a 1994 graduate of Murphy High School in Mobile and a 1950 graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in mechanical engineeering.
He was an engineer in management at Alabama Power Company from 1951 to 1966. He was the engineer utility manager at Scott Paper Company’s Mobile Plant from 1966 until his retirement in 1989.
He was named a registered professional engineer in 1967 and was a life member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineeers beginning in 1968, in which he held office and received the Centennial Award in 1988.
He was a charter member of Cotton Creek Club at Craft Farms in Gulf Shores. He was founder of Seascape Furniture in Gulf Shores in 1984, along with his son, David Keith Green.
An active member of the United Methodist Church since 1952 and held many positions in the church. He was a beloved teacher of Discipleship classes as well as his special love for his membership in the church choir.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Eron Green, and his father, James Lester Green of Soso, Miss.
Survivors include his mother, Gladys Grice Green of Hattiesburg, Miss.; his beloved wife of 56 years, Bettye Dancer Green of Gulf Shores; son, David K. (Charlotte) Green of Gulf Shores; brother, William H. (Frances) Green of Madison, Miss.; sister, Bobbie G. (Buddy) Valentine of Purvis, Miss.; two granddaughters, April Elizabeth Green of Gulf Shores and Molly Dinham Green of Gulf Shores; nieces, nephews and otehr relatives.
A private family graveside service was held in Wiggins, Miss. A Celebration of Life service was held Friday, Aug. 10 at Gulf Shores United Methodist Church.
