After an injury laden 2008 season, The Baldwin County High Tigers are hoping for a better 2009 campaign.

“We are coming off a good spring practice,” BCHS coach David Wofford said, “and we are looking forward to a competitive 6A league."

Wofford said that senior standouts Charleston Gandy, Chris Bush, BJ Roberts and Andrew King will shine as his team’s offensive leaders; while Jacob Dean, Brandon Savage, CJ Stevens, and Curley Morrisette have become the leaders on the defense.

Two new faces will stand out on the Tiger sidelines this year, from baseball standout Stevens playing in the secondary, already expected to be a leader by the coaches and quarterback Jordan Ebert, who transferred in from county rival Fairhope.

Jordan's father Mike Ebert has taken over the duties of the freshmen.

“Mike is a collegiate expert whom I am excited to have on my staff,” Wofford said.

BCHS also has two former coaches returning to the field this year. Jerry Wright is returning and taking control of the offensive line while Lee Everett is returning to work with the linebackers.

The Tigers’ first home game will be August 28 as they play host to the Baker Hornets at Simmons Field. BCHS will host a Jamboree on Thursday, also at Simmons Field.
