Jacob Curry from Mrs. Cendy Hart's second grade class at Gulf Shores Elementary is reading The Islander newspaper. Students are learning to use comprehension strategies when they read nonfiction resources. Students found many nonfiction features in the newspaper, including photographs, captions, headlines and maps. Students also learned how to read the newspaper to learn new information and answer lingering questions.
