GULF SHORES, Ala., - The Gulf Shores Police Department will be conducting a Traffic Safety checkpoint on Saturday, May 25.

The checkpoint will take place at an undisclosed location within the city limits between the hours of 7 p.m.-1 a.m. The checkpoint objectives are designed to reduce traffic crashes and the liability associated with violations of vehicular safety laws including the detection of impaired drivers.

GSPD’s goal is to enforce violations associated with impaired driving and occupant restraint violations. Additional enforcement activities will focus on compliance with Alabama driver license statutes, liability insurance compliance and other vehicle laws including local ordinances.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is providing funding for this checkpoint.
