GULF SHORES, Ala. — Gulf Shores United Methodist Church (GSUMC) presents their second annual Organ Concert on Nov. 1, at 7 p.m., in the church sanctuary located at 1900 Gulf Shores Pkwy.

Tickets are on sale at the church office. Admission is $5 per person.

The American Guild of Organists declared 2008 as the international year of the organ, and GSUMC was among hundreds of churches all over the world featuring the talents of area organists.

Following the outstanding performance, GSUMC received numerous requests to consider annual organ concerts, therefore the latest features Randy Sheets, organist at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church in Mobile; Helen Rodgers, organist St. James Episcopal Church in Fairhope; Paul Anderson, organist at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Daphne; Jackie Dahlman, organist and Irene Walker, assistant-organist, both from GSUMC.

In addition to the five prominent and talented organists, the Organ Concert will feature James Keith Posey, director of music ministries at GSUMC as soloist; Valerie Johnson of Orange Beach as flutist; and Edmund Winston DMA of Fairhope as clarinetist.

GSUMC’s Reuter pipe organ was severely damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. It has been completely restored and enhanced with a new three-manual console and added digital stops.

It has been revoiced so there is one cohesive sound, making this a very complete instrument capable of playing all styles of literature.

Everyone is invited to GSUMC concerts. Don’t miss the talented lineup for this concert.
