Floyd Joseph Guidry, 71, died Monday, July 6, 2009 at his residence.

He was a sheet metal worker for many years and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local #21 of Baton Rouge, La.

A devout Catholic, he was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, La. He was an avid fan of all L.S.U. sports, and he also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anlow and Amanda Duplechien Guidry; and a daughter, Lena Louise Guidry.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine G. Guidr of Cecilia, La.; two sons, Randall Joseph (Lee Anna) Guidry of Cecilia, and Ryan Joseph (Stacie) Guidry of Arnaudville, La.; three daughters, Amanda Marie Guidry Landry, of Gulf Shores, Marcia Ann Guidry (Chris) Scrantz of The Woodlands, Texas, and Monica Ann Guidry (Bert) Stevens of Gulf Shores; four brothers, Liney Guidry, Robley “Mac” Guidry, Harold Guidry, and Curnal “Tee” Guidry; 10 grandchildren, Shannon Guidry, Victoria Guidry, Dustin Landry, Dylan Landry, Peyton Landry, Gabrielle Guidry, Madison Guidry, Quintin Scrantz, Stefan Scrantz and Mallroy Stevens; two great-grandchildren, Kave Guidry and Beckham Guidry; and his beloved pet, “Billie.”

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday, July 7 and from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, July 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia with Father Chanh Nguyen officiating. The readers will be Victoria Guidry and Gabrielle Guidry. Gift bearers will be Mallory Stevens and Madison Guidry. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.

Pallbearers will be Randall Guidry, Ryan Guidry, Shannon Guidry, Dustin Landry, Dylan Landry and Quintin Scrantz. Honorary pallbearers will be Peyton Landry and Stefan Scrantz.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heart of Hospice for the wonderful care they provided him during his illness.
