SILVERHILL, Alabama — The Gear Jammers Car Club held a drawing for an autographed guitar donated by The Old Dominion Band. The lucky winner was Obie O’Neal from Coffeeville.
O’Neal was unable to attend the Silverhill Car Show in May and came to Silverhill recently to receive his prize guitar. O’Neal commented that he had never won anything before, but this was the ultimate prize to win.
Dave Hitchcock of Elberta, a member of the Gear Jammers Car Club, and his son Will Hithcock, the band’s manager were responsible for getting the autographed guitar donated by The Old Dominion Band.
Rising stars with their chart-topping hit “Break Up With Him,” along with the single “Snapback,” which is currently climbing the charts, Old Dominion is one of the hottest new acts in country music winning New Vocal Group/Duo of the Year from the Academy of Country Music Awards and Breakthrough Group of the Year from the American Country Countdown.
After touring with Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean and the Eli Young Band, Old Dominion released their breakout album “Meat and Candy” in 2015 and have so far toured with Chesney, Jake Owen, Eric Church, Rascal Flatts, Miranda Lambert, Sam Hunt, Neal McCoy, Cole Swindell, Kelsea Ballerini, Frankie Ballard, Big and Rich, Randy Houser, Toby Keith and Carrie Underwood in 2016.
Money raised from raffling the guitar – which was signed by band members Matthew Ramsey, lead singer and guitar; Brad Trusi, back-up/background vocals and lead guitar; Trevor Rosen, back-up/background vocals and keyboard/guitar; Geoff Sprung, background vocals and bass guitar; and Whit Sellers, drums – will be used to help build a war memorial in Silverhill.
“The Gear Jammers Car Club members want to thank The Old Dominion Band members, Will and Dave Hithcock for their kind donations,” said Car Show Coordinator Frankie Kucera. “We also want to thank everyone who purchased tickets during the raffle sale.”
