DAPHNE, Ala. — A proposed family entertainment center nixed 10 days ago by the Daphne City Council could find its desired Eastern Shore home sooner than expected — and just a little farther down the road.
The council voted 4-3 at its Dec. 20 meeting not to include bowling alleys and family entertainment centers in a B-1 zone, all but ending Gulf Bowl of Foley’s attempt to build a bowling alley at the southwest corner of the Lawson Road and County Road 13 intersection.
Gulf Bowl owners Frank and Sonya Cole’s determination to keep the project alive, however, could lead to a competitive race by at least one neighboring municipality to land the business.
“We are looking to switch properties,” Sonya Cole said.
“We’re not going to let this stop us. We’re going to continue forward. We feel like we can bring a nice facility to the Daphne or Spanish Fort area.”
