GULF SHORES, AL — Kaleidoscope Afternoon Arts, a program of the Gulf Coast Arts Alliance, will provide after school classes for a six-week period beginning March 23 and ending May 8. The week of Spring Break will be excluded.
Transportation to classes, which will take place at both the GCAA Art Gallery and the First Presbyterian Church, is available for Gulf Shores students. Parents are encouraged to sign students up early for the following classes:
• Painting in Pastel: This class will be on Mondays and will be taught by resident artist, Tommy Vogel. Students will receive step-by-step instruction and will complete a painting during each class. Available to grades 1 through 7.
• Creating Pottery: This class will be on Tuesdays and will be taught by clay artist, Dan Rush. Students will learn the art of molding clay and creating their own designs. Available to grades 1 through 7.
• Etiquette and Dining Etiquette: This class will be on Wednesdays and will be taught by protocol-trained instructor, Rio Barlow. Students will learn the art of civility, basic manners and dining etiquette. Ages 7 through 12.
• Chorale: The Gulf Coast Youth Chorale rehearses on Monday. Directed by Pam Winstead and accompanied by Kayla Dowling, singers will work toward spring performances while developing musicianship. Grades 4 and up.
• Culinary: This class will be on Thursdays and will be taught by Jenn Hammond. This fun cooking class will provide students with lifelong skills, which can be used at home and beyond. Grades 4 and up.
The cost of each class for the six-week period is $60. Registration forms can be picked up at the Gulf Coast Arts Alliance Art Gallery or at the First Presbyterian Church in Gulf Shores.
