ORANGE BEACH — The Gulf Coast Gospel Showcase that runs from December through April and showcases some of the nation’s top gospel singers resumes this weekend.

“It has been refreshing to see the secular musicians who have given their time to promote our island businesses but we want to add another venue by bringing to the island many of the best-known Southern Gospel groups touring America today,” said Paul Ball, administrator at Romar Beach Baptist Church, which created the Lighthouse Gospel Productions.

On Friday and Saturday evening, the 7 p.m. performances will be held at Romar Beach Baptist Church and admission is $10 at the door. Then on Sunday morning, the 9 a.m. performances will not have an admission fee and will be held at either the Romar Beach Baptist Church or other local churches.

The five-month series features an impressive January line-up: Danny Funderbunk on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, The Pathfinders on Friday and Saturday, Mountain Joy  on Saturday, Appointed by Grace Jan. 21-23, The Copenhavers Jan. 21-22, and Phil Cross Jan. 21. Mike Foster of Gulf Shores & Orange Tourism — which sponsored the December and a portion the January concerts — is excited to welcome these top performers to the area: “A gospel concert series of this caliber will appeal directly to our northern guests who escape to our warmer shores every winter. We are extremely excited to see the return of these guests, and this concert series is an ideal way to thank our snowbirds for all that they do to support our local tourism economy and give back to the community through their tireless volunteer efforts.”
