MOBILE — Units from the United States Coast Guard continue searching the Gulf of Mexico for 50-year-old Michelle Vilborg of Bay Minette after Vilborg reportedly went overboard the cruise ship Carnival Holiday somewhere southwest of Pensacola, Fla., the Coast Guard said.

At approximately 11 p.m., Monday, June 15, Coast Guard units heard an emergency person-in-the-water broadcast and “immediately launched rescue units,” a Coast Guard press release said. Reports have stated that a passenger on the ship heard a splash and notified personnel. The incident occurred approximately 75 miles southwest of Pensacola.

As of Tuesday night, Coast Guard units have searched approximately 1,214 square miles of open ocean, using two ships, a helicopter, jet and rescue plane.
