Gulf Shores business donates clothes to tornado victims

The weather tragedy of April 27 has affected all of us across the country, whether directly or indirectly.

Shaul Zislin, owner of SurfStyle Retail Stores with 15 locations in Florida, seven in Alabama and two in Mississippi, has felt the effects through family, friends and business partners.

Zislin has been a businessman in Alabama for more than 20 years, he is also the owner of The Hangout Restaurant and entertainment venue, as well as founder of the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores. The second annual Hangout Music Festival scheduled for May 20-22 sold out  35,000 passes with ticketholders coming to support the event from all 50 states.

Zislin and his South Florida partners want to help the tornado-damaged communities that have supported the Coast for so many years and through so many challenges.

“We have been partnering with Meyer Real Estate and 92Zew on turning our concert series of the Road to the Hangout Festival into the Road to Relief collecting and delivering over 6 bus loads of relief supplies to the some of the affected areas,” Zislin said. “The people in all of these areas have been loyal supporters of the Gulf Coast and we just wanted to do more. We looked at what else we could do besides the benefit concerts, food & monetary donations for immediate impact and we decided to deliver 25,000 new SurfStyle garments to the United Way of West Alabama for distribution.”

The 25,000 new garments consist of all types of clothing in all sizes including kids. The shipment is scheduled to arrive in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday.
