Gulf Shores United Methodist Church is bringing to our community a FREE Day Camp for Kids in grades K-6.

The camp is Friday   4-6:30 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-3 p.m. the South Campus Auditorium.

Registration forms are available online at www.gulfshoresumc.org or in the church office.  Along with the camp, there will also be a time for the parents to join a session for themselves.

One of the many activities of GSUMC has always been to make sure the children of our community are safe and happy even in the event of disasters.

God’s Can Do Kids camp started when many children were upset and concerned after Hurricane Ivan.  It proved to be very helpful to the children in a fun way.

Through crafts, games, physical activity and lessons they learned to cope with many of  their  problems and concerns about home and family as well as community in a good way.

Since the oil spill there has been noted concern from some of the children because it has affected families and friends.  This camp is geared to help them put their feelings in perspective and to join in a Children’s Coastal Community Recovery Project.

The Rev. Jody Hanna Kranz, along with Amelia Fletcher, Director of Servant Ministries, will be spearheading this project.  Marta Coward will be supervising many of the activities of the camp.  These ladies will bring a variety of talents together to make this camp fun and full of surprises, as well as address the concerns of the children.  Through the Children’s Coastal Community Recovery Project the children will become a part of the efforts to clean up our coast.

All children are invited to join the fun at our free day camp.  If you feel your child needs the company of other children with concerns, this is definitely the place to be.  Through knowledge and experience these leaders will bring a fun camp everyone.
