The Wednesday Al-Anon meeting at the Gulf Shores First Presbyterian Church will be suspended until the fall and will be restarted in October.
Weekly meetings will continue at the Orange Beach Presbyterian Church on Canal Road at 7 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays; at the Gulf Shores United Methodist Church at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, and at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church on Fort Morgan Road in Gulf Shores at noon on Fridays.
Al-Anon is an anonymous fellowship whose purpose is to help families and friends of alcoholics learn about the disease of alcoholism and how to cope with its effects. It is a spiritual 12-step support program in which members share their experience, strength and hope with one another.
Newcomers and those dealing with a family member or friend who is suffering from alcoholism are welcome to attend. Personal anonymity is a tradition at all Al-Anon meetings.
