GULF SHORES, Alabama — The Gulf Shores Lady Dolphins needed less than one half of play to finish off the Vigor Lady Wolves in Class 5A Section 1 play on Tuesday at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.

Senior Auburn signee Sophie Simantel scored three goals as Gulf Shores (6-2-1, 3-0) beat Vigor 10-0 in a mercy-rule shortened 38 minute game.

Jessica Chavez added two goals in her first game back after sitting out the first part of the season with an injury.

"I feel a lot better, it is great to be back after sitting out for so long," Chavez said. "I'm ready to help lead the team again and get some wins, especially next week against Spanish Fort."

Gabi Walters, Kim Barbosa, Caroline Tilley, Hannah Millson and Clarissa Nygaard had goals for Gulf Shores, who hosts Citronelle on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

"We always play well together but games like this help us learn to play as a team," Chavez said. "Hopefully this will help bring us closer together and get us ready for Thursday against Citronelle."

The Gulf Shores boys also defeated Vigor on Tuesday and host Citronelle at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
