Members of the Gulf Shores Beautification Board are excited about the City of Gulf Shores Parks and Recreation Department’s Holiday Village in Celebration of The Great Alabama Homecoming.
This year’s theme is “No Place Like Home for the Holidays,” and small building replicas will be displayed
outside of the Bodenhamer Center at the City’s Christmas Open House on Dec. 2 through Jan. 1.
Committee members will be calling on businesses, clubs, and organizations that might want to participate. Anyone and everyone is invited to have their own building or home represented. The lot size is 10-feet by 10-feet so “buildings” should be no larger than 8-feet by 8-feet and decorated or built with a holiday theme. The city will provide signage marking each structure’s sponsor.
Space is limited; commitment/registration for your lot space is due by Nov. 15 at p.m.
If you would like to be included but are “all thumbs” when it comes to building and painting, you can contact Tony Deliberto at 251-968-6517. By making a tax deductable donation to the Boy Scouts of America, Tony and members of Troop 49 will construct your entry for you. If you have building materials (e.g. Plywood, Styrofoam, particleboard, paint, etc.) to donate, the scouts can use that, too. Don’t delay in contacting Tony for help, as structures will be built on a first come- first served basis.
The Beautification Board will be the judges at the Dec. 2 celebration. Structures will be judged for the most original, best replica, and best over-all in each category.
