GULF SHORES, AL - The City of Gulf Shores will host its Fifth Annual Coastal Community Camp Day on Saturday, April 23 from 8 a.m.-noon at the Cultural Center.
“Our goal is to provide members of our community with an opportunity to learn about all of the wonderful youth camps our area has to offer,” Brigette Reynolds, Programs and Events Managerm said. “The great thing about this event is that it's a free, one-stop-shop for summer camp fun.”
According to Reynolds, at least a dozen camps from around the area will be in attendance including the City’s Strengthening Potential through Arts, Recreation and Culture (SPARC) Summer Camps which is based out of the Gulf Shores Cultural Center.
SPARC Summer Camps are open to children who have completed kindergarten and are at least 5 years old through age 11. Online registration is April 9 – April 23. The following SPARC camps will be offered during the course of six summer sessions:
SPARC LAUNCH - Youth will participate in activities designed to introduce them to each program area, SPARC Earth, Works, Talent, Sports and Explorers, May 31-June 3, $80, $25 for after care.
SPARC Earth - Strengthening connections with nature by promoting responsibility, respect and care of our planet.
SPARC Works - Strengthening interest and leadership in the fields of science, engineering and technology through exciting and practical applications.
SPARC Talent - Strengthening aptitudes and skills through media, communications and the arts.
SPARC Sports - Strengthening awareness of various sports, physical activities, and overall health and nutrition.
SPARC Explorers - Strengthening leadership and achievement through diverse opportunities to succeed in outdoor settings.
The one-week Launch session is May 31-June 3, costs $80 and $25 for after care.
Sessions two through five are two-weeks long will be on June 6-17, June 20-July 1, July 11-22 and July 25-Aug. 5 and each of those sessions costs $160 with after care costing $50.
Session six is a week long camp from Aug. 8-12 and costs $80, $25 for after care.
