Gulf Shores Knights of Columbus Present Checks to the Local School’s “Special Needs” Program

Posted

The Gulf Shores Knights of Columbus council presented proceeds from their 2011 Annual Tootsie Roll Drive to the Gulf Shores High School, Middle School  and Elementary School representatives at their monthly meeting  on 18 January, 2012. Due to scheduling conflicts, a check will be presented to the Special Olympics program next month.

The Tootsie Roll Drive is conducted annually by the Knights of Columbus during the month of October to benefit people with Intellectual Disabilities.

All proceeds collected during the annual drive by the Gulf Shores Knights of Columbus go to supporting the local needs of the community and Baldwin County.

This past year’s drive, in spite of the economy, was successful. "I think this can be attributed to the wonderful support from the Mayor, local businesses, and most of all, the local residents and our visitors," said drive chairman, John Jorgensen.
