GULF SHORES — Gulf Shores Police & Fire were dispatched to a one vehicle traffic crash Sunday morning at 5:49 a.m.

The crash occurred on southbound Alabama Highway 59 near County Road 6 in Gulf Shores. A 2002 Volvo left the road at that location and rolled over. The driver, 34-year-old Alejandro Mendez Jr. of Gulf Shores was killed as a result of the crash.

A 19-year-old female passenger was injured in the crash and she was transported to a hospital by ambulance. No other victims were involved.

The crash is under investigation.
