GULF SHORES, Ala. – Both Mardi Gras Parades for Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are still on, officials from the cities reported early Monday afternoon.
The Gulf Shores Mardi Gras Association’s Fat Tuesday Parade is set to roll as scheduled at 10 a.m. and the same parade will start in Orange Beach.
While rain remains in the forecast for Fat Tuesday, officials say only severe weather will cause the cancellation of the parade, according to a Gulf Shores press release. If severe weather moves in and the parade is cancelled, there will be no make-up date.

“As of 1 p.m., Monday, Feb 11, the City of Orange Beach is keeping a watchful eye on the weather,” Angela Bateman of the Parks and Recreation department said. “There will be a window in the morning so Gulf Shores is planning on rolling at 10 a.m. However, the weather looks like it will be deteriorating starting in the early afternoon. The safety of our spectators and parade participants is of the utmost importance.”
Bateman said the City's public safety team will take a look at the morning report from the National Weather Service and then a decision will be made regarding the Orange Beach.
She said this decision should be made no later than 9 a.m. on Fat Tuesday. If there is a cancellation, there will be no make-up date.
Updates will also be posted on the City's facebook page and twitter feed, as well as 251-980-INFO.
