Friday the Gulf Shores detachment of the Marine Corps League (MCL) will have the installation of officers and members in a ceremony at the new Wolf Bay Lodge, on Miflin Road in Foley.
The first commandant of the Gulf Shores chapter will be Mr. Ken Craddock. The installation ceremony will be conducted by Mr. Vic Voltaggio, National Commandant of the MCL Representatives of the MCL Department of Alabama.
Founded in 1923 by Major General Commandant John A. Lejeune, the MCL is the only federally chartered Marine Corps Veterans organization. Presently with a membership of more than 76,000, the MCL has enjoyed the support and encouragement of active duty and reserves since it began. The Marine Corps League is headed by an elected National Commandant, with 14 elected national Staff Officers who serve as trustees.
Happy hour will begin at 4 p.m. and the installation ceremony will begin at 5 p.m.
During the ceremony, Marines from Pensacola will be presenting the colors and VFW Commander Steve Fleming, also a member of the MCL, will present Wolf Bay Lodge an American Flag to replace their flag that was damaged in a recent fire.
Membership in the MCL is open to any active duty or honorable discharged Marine.
