Several of Gulf Shores¹ finest were recognized at a recent city council meeting for going above and beyond the call of duty. Mayor Robert Craft and the city council presented the officers with certificates, awarding the police officers for their work. ³These officers are here today because these officers have gone above and beyond the call of performance,² said Craft. ³We have received notifications of what they have done and we want to present them with certificates to recognize a job well done.² Craft said the city had received several letters from citizens responding to actions taken by the officers. ³These are letters from citizens who are bragging on you individually. Folks in our community notice what a great job you have been doing, and we are happy to recognize you today.² The officers awarded certificates of appreciation by the mayor and council were Cpl. Roland Frye, Ptl Jeremy Perry, and Plt. James Johnston for their work in helping someone recover lost property. Ptl. Gavin Kostelecky was recognized for assisting a motorist after a hit and run accident. Ptl. Jason Woodruff received his certificate for helping a young lady get reunited with her family who was in harms way. ³This is an example of what our officers do every day,² said Deputy Chief of Police Fred Beaman. ³They are dedicated to our businesses and our citizens. I want to thank the mayor and the council for taking the time to recognize them and what they have accomplished.
