Gulf Shores Police arrested 23-year-old Cameron Dashawn Ford of Birmingham June 21 after responding with Gulf Shores Fire Department to reports of a structure fire at Lighthouse Condominiums.
Upon arriving to 455 East Beach Boulevard, officers encountered Cameron Dashawn Ford. The joint investigation revealed that Ford intentionally started a fire inside the condominium he and several people were staying in. When Ford started the fire, two other people were inside the unit. The room in which the fire started blocked the exit for the other people. They were able to safely get out of the condominium.
Ford was arrested at the scene and charged with arson in first degree and terrorist threat. After being booked into the Gulf Shores Jail, Ford was transferred to the Baldwin County Jail in Bay Minette. His bond was set at $75,000. This case is still under investigation by Gulf Shores Police and Fire.
In March 2017, Ford was sentenced to five years at William E. Donaldson Correctional Facility for receiving stolen property I, attempted murder and receiving stolen property II. He is currently on parole for the offense of attempted murder.
