GULF SHORES, Ala. — When Mary’s Shelter Gulf Coast hosts its first theatrical presentation of the season on Thursday, Nov. 8, babies and moms will benefit.

Mary’s Shelter provides a loving, Christian home for adult pregnant women who have nowhere to go to wait for the birth of their baby.

The play, “Waiting Rooms”, will be presented by the South Baldwin Community Theatre in Gulf Shores.

The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and beverages. The play starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person. Order tickets by calling 251-554-4889 or pay by credit card, 251-986-6351.

“Waiting Rooms” is the third in the Whitfield Family series of five plays written by local playwright Laura Sansing Pfizenmayer. Set in 1997, it is the story of grown-upsiblings Savannah, Augusta and Montgomery dealing with the illness and death of Matriarch Mama Alma. This ‘dramadey’ will not only bring a tear to your eye it will have you laughing uproariously at the fussing and feuding of this trio of southern favorites.

The shelter gives them much more than a roof over their heads. It provides counseling, job training, GED instruction, parenting classes, money management help and other essential advice to help the mother develop character, maturity and responsibility.

The rural setting in Elberta provides a quiet place for the prospective Mom to make an assessment of her life and the necessary changes to succeed. Adoption counseling is also provided.

A faith-based facility, Mary’s Shelter Gulf Coast accommodates homeless pregnant women of Mobile, Baldwin and Escambia counties in Alabama as well as Escambia and Santa Rosa counties in Florida.

Mary’s Shelter Gulf Coast receives no state or federal funds. It depends entirely on the generosity of individual and corporate donors, fundraising events and grants. The Guardian Angel Program asks donors to pledge an amount every month either by sending a check or by automatic deduction from a Master Card, Visa or checking account. This program provides steady funding for the everyday expenses of any household, such as utilities, outside maintenance and cleaning and cooking supplies.

Mary’s Shelter Gulf Coast is a non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible according to IRS guidelines for 501(c)(3) organizations. For information call 251-986-6200.
