GULF SHORES, Ala. - According to the website dredging .com the city of Gulf Shores has announced the partial closure of the public beach and parking area at the end of Highway 59 on Monday to allow for progress to continue with the ongoing beach renourishment project.

While certain areas of the beach and parking will be closed, some areas will remain open throughout the duration of the project.

Gulf Shores officials encourage those interested in viewing the renourishment process to use caution and respect the safety zones established.

West-to-East dredging and beach fill activities with the Bayport have been completed to West Second Street and have jumped to between East Third and East Fourth Streets and are now progressing westward toward the Sea’N’Suds and Gulf Place.

Currently, operations are progressing westward from the 400 block of East Beach Boulevard westward to Gulf Place and West Second Street to tie into the completed fill area.

Beach fill work from East Second Street to West Second Street to Gulf Place will be very busy with beach fill activities.
