GULF SHORES, Ala. — The City of Gulf Shores will cap its 2012 edition of Music at Meyer Park on June 28 at 6 p.m. with Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band.
Once this accordion-playing virtuoso grabs the mic and takes to the stage, audiences are treated to a show like no other. Chubby’s sound is infectious – a concoction of blues, 70s funk, rock and roll, and good-ole zydeco flavor – and makes even the most timid individuals get their feet moving.
The band’s latest release “Zydeco Junkie,” has taken the group to new heights after winning the Grammy Award for Best Zydeco/Cajun Album in February 2011.
If the high energy, zydeco sound of Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band isn’t enough for you, don’t worry. Chris and Jenny Sherrill from EAT! Restaurant will be on hand to cook up a feast of fresh, Alabama Gulf shrimp, corn and potatoes, as well as, red beans and rice.
“Music at Meyer Park has become a laid back gathering for locals of all ages,” Program and Events Manager Brigette Reynolds said. “We felt like this was the perfect opportunity to celebrate The Year of Alabama Food with fresh, local seafood complimented by the cultural sounds of one of the best zydeco bands in the country.”
Be sure to bring your blankets, chairs, friends and family and join us at Meyer Park to enjoy the beautiful weather, delicious seafood and the unforgettable sounds of Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band. Meyer Park is located at 400 E. 22nd Avenue in Gulf Shores.
