PENSACOLA, Fla. — Author Noel Coward penned the ingenious comedy “Blithe Spirit” about a man plagued by the ghost of his first wife. Pensacola Little Theatre’s Artistic Director Jerry Ahillen is directing the comedy for a March debut on PLT’s main stage.

Actor Larry McHenry, last seen in PLT’s “Sordid Lives,” stars as Charles Condomine, a novelist researching the occult for his latest book. When he invites the eccentric medium Madame Arcati (Theresa Myers) to hold a séance in his home, Charles never dreams the ceremony will summon the spirit of his long-dead wife (Carla Rhodes).

Elvira is not just a mischievous ghost, she also has a plan to ensure that she and Charles will be together forever.

Maura Johnson Carraway, who works for Crow, Shields & Bailey P.C. in Gulf Shores, plays Charles’ current wife, Ruth.

The cast also includes Kristin Hansen, Trudy Jenkins, and Nick Wilson.

“Blithe Spirit” is playing for two weekends, March 7-16. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.

Ticket prices are $22, $18, or $15 each. A $2 discount per ticket is available for senior citizens, students and active-duty military.

Group discounts are also available for parties of ten or more. Purchase tickets at their box office or by phone at (850) 432-2042.

One Thursday performance will be held March 13 at 7 p.m., with all tickets half price for that night only. No additional discounts apply on “Theatre Thursday.”

All performances of “Blithe Spirit” are in the Valerie J. Russenberger Theatre inside the Pensacola Cultural Center, 400 S. Jefferson St., downtown.

Tapas are available before the show or during intermission; order in advance through Portabello Market, located inside the Pensacola Cultural Center, phone (850) 439-6545.
