GULF SHORES, Ala. -- The Gulf Shores Woman’s Club is pleased to announce that applications are now available for the Single Parent Scholarship, which will be awarded in May.
The women of the Club recognize the importance of education and promote the ambitious efforts of a single parent in supporting one or more children while working to achieve educational and career goals.
“We want to recognize and award a single parent who has a vision and dream of excelling in the professional ranks as well as being a strong, supportive, and loving parent,” Jeanne Franz, Chair of the Educational Committee for the Club, said.
“Raising children while participating in the educational process certainly brings about challenges and struggles. Our Club believes in them and simply want to promote their efforts,” Linda Cate Whiten, Co-Chair, said.
Davey Jones, philanthropist and international entrepreneur, has partnered with the Gulf Shores Woman’s Club in support of the scholarship award. Additionally, he serves as Executive Vice President of NOVA USA.
Applicants must be a resident of Baldwin County, a single parent, graduate from high school, in need of financial aid, and enrolled in a college or training program. Applications are due by April 4, 2012 and forms are available by contacting Jeanne Franz at 251-968-5268.
