Habitat for Humanity wants your spare change

GULF SHORES, Ala. — Volunteers throughout Baldwin County will be standing outside of more than 40 local businesses today asking customers for a donation of quarters, or any spare change, to assist Habitat for Humanity of Baldwin County. The Loving Quarters for Living Quarters held its kickoff campaign yesterday at The Hangout in Gulf Shores. Top Hat and Jackie performed for the crowd and sang a song about Habitat, which was donated and will become the official campaign song. The goal of the Loving Quarters for Living Quarters campaign is to gather enough quarters to lay them end to end throughout the 75 miles of Highway 59 from Gulf Shores to Little River. Habitat for Humanity of Baldwin County has a goal to build 75 houses in the next five years for residents throughout the county. The 75 miles of quarters will add up to well over $1 million. The fundraising event will be held quarterly. For more information on volunteering or home ownership with Habitat for Humanity of Baldwin County, please visit baldwinhabitat.org or call 251-943-7268.
