Charles F. Hagendorfer, 65, a native of Elberta and a resident of Fort Wayne, Ind., died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 at his residence.
He began his career as a farmer. Following high school, he served six years in the U.S. Marine Corps, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. Using self taught skills, he made a career as a pipe fitter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Louise Hagendorfer.
Survivors include a son, Clay C. Hagendorfer of Springdale, Ark.; three brothers, Joseph Hagendorfer of Cantonment, Fla., John “Gabe” Hagendorfer of Elberta and William “Bill” Hagendorfer of Elberta; four sisters, Margaret Klein of Elberta, Jean Sands of Eight Mile, Mary Exum of Bessemer of Thersa Hagendorfer of Knoxville, Tenn.; many nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14 at St. Bartholomew Church in Elberta. Burial with military honors rendered by the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard, will be held at 2 p.m. at Barancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.
The family requests memorial donations be made to VFW Post 5658 Veterans Relief Fund, 24250 U.S. Highway 98, Elberta, AL 36530.
