Lawrence R. “Larry” Hamberg, 81, a native of Michigan and a resident of Orange Beach, died June 26, 2008.
He was a resident of New Orleans for 20 years before retiring to Orange Beach where he lived for the past 21 years. He was a longtime member of the Gulf Shores Optimist Club. He served on the board of Romar House Condominium Association, Orange Beach. He was a member of the Port Sheldon Beach Association, West Olive, Mich.
He was a generous contributor to many national and local charities. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Hamberg and his son, David Hamberg.
Survivors include two daughters, Kelly (Al) Kropog of New Orleans and Kristie (Kenny) Wallace of Gulf Shores; two brothers, David Hamberg of Gulf Shores and Colin Hamberg of Michigan; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 29 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley.
