Harriett Hodges Bruner

Harriett Hodges Bruner, 92, born and raised in Louisville, Ky. and a resident of Fairhope, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014.

Harriett was a member of several Junior Leagues in cities across the country, a member of Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity for women and a graduate of Indiana University, where she met her husband, Ralph.

Locally she was active with the Eastern Shore Art Center, Montrose Garden Club, Montrose Watch and an avid tennis player well into her 70s.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Bruner; and grandson, Ian McFarlane.

She is survived by her daughters, Leslie Bruner of Naples, Fla. and Wendy Bruner of Lexington, Mass.; son, Ralph W. Bruner III (Ilsa) of Kingwood, Texas; six grandchildren, Sean, Seth, Ian, Brooks, Brittany, Harriett “Teddy;” three nieces, and one nephew.

A celebration of life service will be held Monday, June 9, 2014, at 1:30 p.m., in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to The Eastern Shore Art Center, 401 Oak St., Fairhope, AL 36532, or The Haven, 559 S. Section St., Fairhope, AL 36532.
