Harris learns more about estate tax law at annual symposium

GULF SHORES, Ala. — George Harris, a local insurance and retirement advisor from G.H. Financial Services, LLC in Gulf Shores, recently attended the 3rd annual First Protective Advanced Case Symposium held at Ross Bridge Resort in Birmingham.

The symposium brings in some of the brightest attorneys and advisors in the estate planning and investment fields in the country to introduce brokers and advisors of proposed changes in the tax law, new regulations and new financial products in the marketplace.

Brokers leave the symposium with an acute awareness of the problems and issues facing pre-retirees and retirees alike, and many new ideas on how to solve those problems.

According to Jay Stubbs of First Protective, one of the organizers of the event, “Given the recent volatility in the stock market, and the meltdown of the real estate market, now is one of the best times in history to re-evaluate an estate plan.”

One of the more interesting discussions at the symposium was the expected change in the estate tax law that is being considered by the Obama Administration. The estate tax is currently scheduled to be repealed in 2010, however, proposed changes could bring back the tax with a vengeance.

The event covered three days with more than 25 speakers making presentations to 60 plus brokers and agents. For more information contact George Harris at 251-968-1234.
