He joined the Army 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. Later, he furthered his education, graduating from Pensacola Bible Institute and pastored Westside Baptist Church in Pensacola, Fla., then assistant pastor of Bible Believer’s Baptist Church of Foley, Ala. Later, he pastored Fellowship Baptist Church, in Buras, La. until Dr. Wayne Mund, his nephew and pastor of Fishermen Baptist Church in Bon Secour, Ala., called him to serve as assistant pastor to the new work in Bon Secour.
Harry loved the sea and the people of the sea serving in the port ministry of the church as well. He loved, as he put it, “to be about my Father’s business.” He persuaded many to the Lord by showing forth that same love.
He enjoyed the love of a woman who loved him without reservation! He called her his wild Irish Rose, and added, “and I do mean wild!”
In the end, however, it was his grandson, Kenny Saunders, who put his life on hold to honor his grandfather and to give him the last full measure of support to a man he felt a heart full of respect.
