Harry Stanford “Stan” Mayo, 66, a native of Birmingham and resident of Gulf Shores, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014 after a long illness.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Allen Mayo; mother, Elizabeth Edwards Mayo; and brother, Pete Mayo.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jacqueline DeRoy Mayo; daughter, Leah Elizabeth Mayo; son, James Stanford Mayo; and four grandchildren, Melody Morgan, Taylor Mayo, Dillon Huelsing and Madeline Mayo.
After graduating from Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Stan served his country in the United States Navy and was a decorated Vietnam War veteran.
Stan worked with Coastal Video for a number of years and later was procurement officer with the city of Gulf Shores until his retirementin 2001, due to illness.
The family wishes to thank South Baldwin Home Health and Community Hospice for their excellent care and compassion for Stan.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
