Haunted Forest returns to Baldwin County

DAPHNE, Ala.—The Haunted Forest is back from the dead.

The Christ the King church will host the Haunted Forest event this weekend at the Magnolia Corn Maze in Magnolia Springs. The event was last held more than six years ago.

The Haunted Forest is set for 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Navigating through the 8-acre haunted corn maze and forest costs $15. Food and drinks will be available to attendees.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Christ the King youth ministry group. Some will go towards their Jamaican mission trip June 5-12.

“This year we partnered up with (Magnolia Corn maze),” said Jami Graham, the church’s youth minister. “They are letting us use their land. They have activities going on out there anyway so it’s a perfect venue.”

The event used to happen at Christ the King church in Daphne and on Stanton Road. She feels the new site will be a good fit for the event.

“I think it’s the best site that it’s been on because the forest is very big. When it was in its heyday, (the event) would bring around 1,000 people a night.”

Graham expects the event to bring around 1,000 to 2,000 for the entire weekend.

The event used to happen over the course of two weekends, but Graham said she wants to start small this year and build up to where it was before.

“Next year we will probably go back to two weekends, but this year since it’s just getting started we’re going to stick with just Halloween weekend,” she said.
