John Bennett Hawkins, 62, a resident of Bay Minette, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 at USA Medical Center.
He was a self-employed machinist and auto mechanic. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of Bay Minette Masonic Lodge No. 498, 32nd degree Scottish Rite and the Abba Temple Shrine.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Martin Hawkins.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Bennett Hawkins of Bay Minette; son, John F. (Rachel) Hawkins of Auburn; daughter, Liz Hawkins (Jason) Kolbe of Bay Minette; step-son, Christopher M. (Shelby) Ford of Euless, Texas; his mother, Hazel Hawkins of Bay Minette; three sisters, Ginger King of Oneonta, Betty Ruth Franklin of Orange Beach and Shirley Graham of Saraland; and three grandchildren, William S. Hawkins, Kadence Kolbe, Bennett Ford and Brady Ford.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery with Dr. Wayne Cornelius officiating.
The family requests memorial donations be made to North Baldwin Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 190, Bay Minette, AL 36507.
