ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — A head-on two vehicle crash on County Road 62 in Baldwin County claimed the life of Wanda L. Lutrell, 68, of Robertsdale on Saturday night and sent 26 year old Mark Howard, also of Robertsdale, to USA Medical Center in Mobile.
According to a press release from the Alabama Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. when Howard’s 1995 Dodge pick-up crossed the center line and struck Lutrell’s 2003 Toyota Matrix. Howard was traveling west-bound when the collision happened.
Lutrell was wearing her seat belt, but was pronounced dead at the scene. It is not known if Howard was wearing his seat belt.
It is unknown whether or not drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident, according to State Trooper Greg Eubanks.
“I know they kept him overnight but I don’t know any further details. And there haven’t been any charges brought against him at time. We are waiting for him to get out of the hospital,” Eubanks said. “We should know more in the next couple of days when the investigation is done.”
