SPANISH FORT, Ala.—The Baldwin County Health Department notifies residents that a sewage spill occurred in Spanish Fort, Alabama on Wednesday night, June 3, in an area south of the Spanish Fort Town Center Shopping Center.

According to a report received by the health department today, a power transformer failed and power was lost to a lift station, which resulted in an estimated 4000 gallons of sewage being discharged into Joe’s Branch.

The health department urges residents to exercise caution using this water body for recreational purposes.

Also, thoroughly cook any fish or seafood caught near by and wash hands after handling fish or seafood.
