Heart of Champions benefit announced

BAY MINETTE, Ala. — The Heart of Champions 5K Run will be held Oct. 8, with proceeds benefiting the less fortunate in the north Baldwin area during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

The event includes a 5K and 1-mile fun run beginning and ending at the Community Kids Park in Bay Minette.
The 5K begins at 8 a.m., followed by the one-mile fun run at 9 a.m. Awards will be given in the 5K to the top three male and females in overall division, Masters (40-49), Grand Masters (50-59), Senior Grand Masters (60 and up), 5K race/walk and various age groups. For the 1-mile fun run, the top three male and female winners will be honored and all finishers will receive ribbons.
A school award of $150 will also be presented to the school with the most participation. Registration is $20 through Sept. 30 and $25 after that.
The student rate is $12. Registration is available at North Baldwin Infirmary Wellness Center until Oct. 7 or on-line at www.active.com through Oct. 6. Pre-registered runners will be given T-shirts and race day registrants will receive shirts as long as supplies last.
Post race, participants can snack on Dominos Pizza, baked goods from Publix, fruit, snacks and beverages. There will also be drawings for door prizes.
